Children's Centres and Youth Hubs
Children's Centres and Youth Hubs support the needs of children of a range of ages and are essential in achieving positive outcomes for young people and their families as part of the support package offered by Early Help and Preventative Services (EHPS).
There are children’s centres and youth hubs across Romney Marsh. Each one has a team consisting of a Delivery Manager, Senior Early Help Worker, Early Help Worker, Early Help Support Worker, Business Support and volunteers.
Volunteering roles in children's centres and youth hubs could include:
- creating a welcoming environment for children, young people and their families by manning reception
- supporting the Early Help Worker in delivering group work
- helping to create flyers, posters and display boards
- helping with art sessions and workshops.

The Friends of Lydd runs the Lydd Town Museum which was created in 1979 to reflect the uniqueness of Lydd and to gather as much information as possible about this historic town and the area in which it is located. The museum reflects much of the history of the area and offers an interesting insight into what is a fascinating part of Kent.
The Museum is run entirely by volunteers.
The Friends of Lydd also organise Town Walks and Group Visits to the musem.

The Friends of Martello24 is a Registered Charity was set up in 2017 as a trust to advance the education of the public in the history and heritage of Martello Tower No. 24 in Dymchurch. This is achieved by working In partnership with English Heritage to open Martello Tower No 24 to the public on a published regular basis. The trust also has aims to work with the owners of other historic buildings in Dymchurch to achieve greater awareness of these buildings.
The Friends of Martello24 are in need of more volunteer Stewards to help with the openings of the tower, specially at the weekends.

The Guide Dogs team rely on volunteers who give their time for so many things. From the volunteers who care for the dogs, guide people who are blind or partially sighted, drive or raise funds, to those who come out occasionally to hold a bucket or cheer on marathon runners, volunteers are closely involved in almost every area of what Guide Dogs do. There are around 50 different established volunteering roles at Guide Dogs and they also welcome any skills that you may be able to bring to a new role as well. Even if you have just five minutes, you can still do your bit.
By volunteering for Guide Dogs you'll be helping to make a huge difference to the lives of people who are blind and partially-sighted. But that's not all - you'll be part of a great team, you'll be learning new skills and we promise you'll have a lot of fun!

Kent Association for the Blind
Kent Association for the Blind helps over 11,000 visually impaired people in Kent, Bromley and Medway. They are currently looking for volunteers in the Romney Marsh area that may be able to help their visually impaired clients with befriending or driving and they are also looking for volunteers to help fundraising with collection boxes and store collections at local supermarkets.

They provide a free warm welcome to individuals or groups of up to 6 people travelling together and can add huge value to any visit to Romney Marsh by sharing their local knowledge of the Marsh's highlights, hidden gems and heritage.

From the shore to the lifeboat, there are a variety of volunteer roles at the two Lifeboat Stations on the coast of Romney Marsh, at Dungeness and Greatstone.
The volunteer crew are the backbone of the lifeboat service, physically saving lives at sea. They are available 24/7, whatever the weather, to rescue those who need help. There are 4,700 volunteer lifeboat crew members at stations around the UK and Ireland, 8% of whom are women, and another 3,000 volunteer shore crew members who support them.
In addition to the crew, it takes many more volunteers to run a lifeboat station effectively, from the the lifeboat operations manager, the lifeboat press officer who produces press releases and promotes the station’s activity in local and regional media, shop volunteer, heritage volunteer, fundraising volunteer etc.

Litter Picking Watch Romney Marsh
This Litter Action group is for everyone who loathes litter. We share ideas about things we can do, locally and nationally, to get it cleared up. The group also takes action against litter in the local area. Join them in sharing what’s good about litter picking – lots of fresh air, meeting your neighbours, huge piles of rubbish sacks!

Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway Association
The RHDR Association is a charity whose goals are to support the railway practically and financially, and to develop a heritage and interpretation Centre. They would like more people joining the existing volunteers who do everything from driving trains, joining the station staff, become a asignaller to helping the elves wrap Santa’s presents.

Romney Marsh Countryside Partnership
The Romney Marsh Countryside Partnership was set up in June 1996 with the aims to care for the special landscape and wildlife of the Romney Marsh, including Dungeness. They aim to encourage people to enjoy and understand the countryside through guided walks, cycle rides, countryside events and children’s activities.
Most of the conservation work carried out by the Romney Marsh Countryside Project involves volunteers. The project organises about 25 tasks a year and these cover activities ranging from hedge planting near Lydd, scrub clearance near Camber, leech surveying at Appledore or pond digging. All volunteer days are led by an experienced leader who will introduce you to the group and inform you about the place you are working and the work you will be doing. The volunteers are a friendly bunch and new volunteers are always welcome.

The Romney Marsh Day Centre is an established local independent and highly regarded charity, supporting older people within our community to remain independent and living in their own homes for as long as they choose.
Romney Marsh Day Centre has a vast range of volunteering opportunities available, both in thcentre and out in the community. These include supporting social activities, gardening in the sensory garden, assisting in the Centre's busy admin office, meet and greet people in our reception area and help sign post them to their numerous clinics and services and more.

The Romney Marsh Morris are a mixed Cotswold Morris side based on the Romney Marsh. Founded in 2016, they dance across the famous Romney Marsh and beyond, dancing throughout the summer at pubs, festivals and other events.
The side are always looking for new members. Whether you want to dance, play, sing, all of the above or just come along and support us, they would love for you to get in touch. They practice Sunday mornings from 10:30am to 12:30pm from October to April at The Assembly Rooms in New Romney.

The Romney Marsh Visitor Centre houses fascinating displays depicting the region’s natural and social history and provides providing opportunities for visitors and locals to discover explore and learn about the Romney Marsh’s landscape and heritage.
The volunteers support the centre by greeting visitors, working on the grounds, and serving in the small tea bar and shop. They also play a role in helping out in the art gallery and guiding visitor around the grounds; volunteers also be sharing information about our exciting Fifth Continent project.
The Visitor Centre are looking for volunteers that would like to share their knowledge about Romney Marsh, wildlife and would like to help them to connect people with nature. You don't need to be an expert in all things wildlife, as you'll be learning alongside the friendly and knowledgeable staff members, but you'll need to comfortable mucking in and carrying out a range of duties across the Centre. It's helpful for the centre to have volunteers who can commit to volunteering twice per month.

Romney Marsh Wartime Collection
The Romney Marsh Wartime Collection, incorporating Brenzett Aeronautical Museum Trust, at Brenzett, is a unique collection of wartime equipment, remains recovered from aircraft crash sites and memorabilia collected and donated to the Museum since its formation in 1972.
The Museum is run entirely by volunteers.

The RSPB Reserve at Dungeness, the Society's oldest nature reserve, occupies nearly 4 sq miles of the Dungeness peninsula - the largest shingle formation of its kind in Europe.
The RSPB have more than 12,000 volunteers natuinally and between them, they contribute almost one million hours every year! Their volunteering roles can be tailored to your skills, interests and circumstances. You do not have to be an RSPB member to volunteer with them. If you are younger than 18, we need the permission of your parent or guardian before we can take you on as a volunteer.
You don’t have to be a bird or wildlife expert to volunteer for us. There are many ways you can get involved with our work. If you don't know a robin from a redwing, it really doesn't matter.

We offer a range of different activities from sailing, windsurfing, and powerboating - to rock climbing, camping, and music - plus, so much more! At New Romney, you are also able to gain different qualifications that you can take with you once you leave Sea Cadets!
We’re always looking for people to join us! Whether it’s becoming a trained instructor or just lending a helping hand, your help is always welcome! You don’t need to have a background in the navy or in water sports, you just need to have a positive attitude! Volunteering with Sea Cadets has so many benefits.
