Model Railway Exhibition
The Model Railway Exhibition is at the New Romney Station of the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway (RH&DR). The main exhibition is a HO/OO gauge layout featuring trains that depict expresses, freight-trains and branch operations from all over Europe and from different periods in time. The layout is 35 years old and is run by switches in the track that are activated by magnets under each of the trains. Detailed stations, factories, sidings and landscapes complete the picture.
The walls of the museum feature the RH&DR story in words and pictures, as well as posters from the railways past, pictures of special events and of the locomotives in days gone by.
You will find several small gauge steam locomotives, examples of different gauge model railway sets and some of the trains that used to run-around the museum on the original O gauge layout, that was replaced by the current model in 1978, when it was known as 'Model Land'.
