The Ship Hotel
The Ship Hotel, New Romney, is a 15th century pub & hotel situated in the heart of Romney Marsh with a large restaurant, a conservatory, a garden, en suite bedrooms and an indoor and outdoor bar. The hotel is tastefully decorated and offers a warm welcome.
Situated at the end of the High Street in New Romney, The Ship Hotel enjoys a heated outside area as an extension of the indoor pub. There is a conservatory area for a more sheltered drink, as well as the main pub and lounge area - which proudly displays some original features, such as the brick fireplace - and a lovely restaurant with seating for over 70 people that doubles as a large function room.
They can also cater for functions: weddings, birthday parties & anniversaries.
Friday night is Disco night, which finishes promptly at midnight.
Rooms
The are 10 comfortable rooms, all of which have recently been decorated. They all have an en-suite, and are equipped with tea and coffee facilities, toiletries, a 22″ flat screen TV with Freeview, a DVD player and a hair dryer. WiFi internet access is also available free of charge.

The Ship Hotel in New Romney
History
The original Ship was built of mainly ship timber brought from the old port of New Romney. The first recorded keeper is one Thomas Banne, who is described as an "ostler" of the parish of Romney. The inn is mentioned in the will of Samuel Dunstare in 1579.
It is recorded that in 1662 the inn underwent extensive alteration, the thatch, wattle and daub was removed in part and replaced with tiles and bricks. The present facade was erected in 1728. At the height of the coaching era of the mid to late eighteenth century,
The Ship was an established coach halt being situated on the main Rye to Dover route, and is mentioned as a compulsory stop in the timetable of 1802. More recently In the 20th century the cellar was also used as a public air-raid shelter in the Second World War.

Bar Opening Hours: Monday to Saturday 11am to 11pm Sunday 11am to 10pm
Food Hours: Monday to Saturday 12pm to 9pm Sunday 12pm to 8pm Sunday
They also do breakfast every day from 9am to 11am. NB The bar isn't open during these hours.
