The aim of the Dymchurch and District Heritage Group is to preserve the history of Dymchurch and District for future generations. The Group was formed in January 2010 with the following objectives:
- To further local history research in Dymchurch and the surrounding villages on Romney Marsh
- To build an archive accessible to the membership and interested members of the public
- To publicise the local history of the area
- To raise funds, apply for grants and accept donations to acquire and preserve items of interest
Meetings are held regularly at the Methodist Church, High Street, Dymchurch and the Group has its own Heritage Room at the rear of the building.
New members are always welcome.
Information about The Group
The Group has a Heritage Room located at the rear of the Methodist Church. The entrance is in Chapel Road, Dymchurch. There is a large collection of local history records and aritfacts with many unique and interesting items.
For 2025 It is open to the public from 2pm to 4pm on the 1st Saturday of the month from April to July and in Oct . For August and Septmeber, New Hall (opposite the parish church) will be used instead.
Membership is open to all who have an interest in local history. Annual membership is £8 per person. Admission for meetings is £3 for members and £5 for non-members. Please contact our Secretary for more information email.
We are interested in hearing from people who have photographs, documents and stories we can copy and keep safely in our records.

The Group manages a very comprehensive website covering the history of the Romney Marsh area. it was orignally developed by Peter Faulkner and passed to the Group after this death. We are still in the process of making sure it fully up to date. The links below are some of the items on the site that relate to Dymchurch.
