Litter Picking Watch Romney Marsh/Shepway
The Litter Picking Watch Romney Marsh/Shepway group is for everyone who loathes litter. The group has been set up to take action against litter in our local area and share ideas about things that can be done, locally and nationally, to get the litter cleared up.
Why not join them and let the know your ideas, point out areas that need attention, see publicised litter picking events and be part of the growing national movement that’s taking action against litter. You can share what’s good about litter picking – lots of fresh air, meeting your neighbours, huge piles of rubbish sacks!

The Marsh Build & Craft KIds Club meets every Monday from 10am to 12noon at the St Marys Bay Village Hall, entry £2.00. Activities include Imaginative Play, Messy Play, REading Books, Arts & Crafts, Dressing Up, Group Outings, Toy and Book Swop and Refreshments.

The Marsh Choir is a network of rock pop and soul community choirs for all ages and abilities with weekly classes taking place in St Mary’s Bay, Appledore, Dymchurch, Hythe and Lydd. The groups practice in their separate locations and then meet for big concerts as a full collective of over 300 members. We learn great songs around the piano in harmony and we tend to have an enormous amount of fun doing so.
The choirs are led by Carly Bryant, a professional touring singer, and musician who recently moved to the Marsh and was so inspired by the community that she simply had to start singing with them! The sessions cost as little as £3.50 per person and take place at the following times and locations:

Celebrating 30 years of successful operation as a registered charity, Marsh Companions is run entirely by volunteers, whose aim is to organise events which promote companionship for the over 50’s residents in Romney Marsh.
Events include: Theatre trips; coach trips to places of interest; lunches out at local hostelries; short holidays to UK resorts and regular Thursday social get-togethers with afternoon tea and bingo in St Mary's Bay Village Hall when no trips are planned. In general, we organise trips about every three weeks in summer and every month in winter. All trips are on a shared cost, not for profit basis.
Whether on your own, a couple, or just friends, you’ll get a warm welcome at the Village Hahh on a Thursday at 2pm in the company of similarly minded others.

The Romney Marsh Art Society was founded in 1958 to promote and encourage an interest in art on the Romney Marsh.
It is a friendly and thriving Society, offering talks and demonstrations in a variety of different media by invited guest art demonstrators and professional artists.
These meetings are open to Members and Non-members. During the year there are also organised workshops and painting afternoons along with a demonstrator on hand to offer advice and help if needed. The annual trip to a destination decided at the AGM for its Members is always very popular and looked forward to each year.

The Romney Marsh Branch of the Pony Club was established in 1948 and is part of Pony Club Area 11, which covers runs from the A21 in the west, down to Rye and out across Romney Marsh.
The club aims to ensure the development of young people, through rallies, camps, fun and enjoyment. They cater for all ages from lead rein to Associates, building a strong Romney Marsh team ethos, and having a brilliant social side to the Pony Club. They are immensely proud of the achievements of their members from local shows, PC Championships through to National Shows, with some now on National Squads and competing at very high levels in various disciplines.
The Pony Club is open to anyone up to the age of 25 years old. They give instruction in riding and horsemastership, as well as promoting the highest ideals of sportsmanship and citizenship, nurturing a strength of character and self discipline.

The Rotary Club of Romney Marsh is part of a worldwide organisation called Rotary International, with more than 1.2 million members in 33,000 clubs. Rotary club members are volunteers who work locally, regionally, and internationally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education and job training, promote peace, and eradicate polio under the motto 'Service Above Self'.
Rotarians are men and women who take an active role in their communities while greatly enriching their personal and professional lives. A Rotary club contains a diverse group of people from the community that the club serves. As a member of a Rotary club, you have the opportunity to give something back, to give hope to those less fortunate and to make lives worthwhile and fulfilled.

The Romney Marsh Walking Society organise “led” walks throughout the year. Usually they are circular of about 4 to 6 miles, either on the Marsh or in the surrounding countryside. Members will receive the current walks programme and can choose which walks to attend. The walks are generally at weekends, either Saturday mornings with a pub lunch afterwards or Sunday afternoons.

Thornton Road Club is a cycling club centred on Dymchurch and Romney Marsh while embracing the Kent coastal towns and villages situated between Folkestone and New Romney. Its members engage in the congeniality of regular cycling.
Year-round Sunday runs are at the heart of the club’s activities, with rides to suit all, the hardy and the brave, the seasoned enthusiast and the novice. Three grades of riders are catered for by three kinds of rides, including rides that are guided by an experienced club member. These rides encompasses a range of topography – flat and easy or hilly and hard – traversed at an average speed of up to 15 mph. There is also a more arduous ride that aims at high average speeds (17 to 19 mph) and/or interesting hill climbs (up to 20% gradient). A variety of routes embracing the flat but windy Romney Marsh or its hilly periphery of central and east Kent are the measures of the challenge.
