Weather and Tides
The climate of Romney Marsh is characterised by its unifomity, low annual rainfall, small temerature range, long hours of sunshine and windiness. The fact that the Marsh with Dungeness extends well out into the English Channel means that there is a considerable oceanic influence on the climate from there.
Rainful on Romney Marsh is less than inland, mainly due to the lack of relief on the Marsh The prevailing winds are from the south-west but there is often a long period of cold north-east winds early in the year, sometimes extending through April and May.
