New Romney Old School
The Old School in New Romney is a unique building and forms an important part of the Town’s history, culture and continued social activity.
First opened in 1821, it has educated many generations of local children. After its closure, around 1967 the building, left empty, fell into a state of disrepair. However, thanks to the formation of New Romney Old School Trust in 1988, fund raising activity and a grant from the National Lottery, the building was restored and re-opened in 2000.
Today’s Old School remains an important part of the local community, hosting an active schedule of events, classes, talks and exhibitions.
